The GEMS Project was created to commemorate 25 special alumnae of Figure Skating in Harlem for the program’s 25th anniversary. Through bold portraits and stories of these women, the FSH Gems, get a glimpse of how each alumna’s light radiates and touches the world today as they embody FSH’s vision for its students. With this work, we display the beauty, courage, and confidence in our Gems of the past and the future.

The project was creatively directed by alum & photographer Flo Ngala who participated in the program for over a decade. Her work includes contributions with The New York Times, Billboard, Vogue, and more. Ngala has also formerly worked with the program in 2019 to capture a cover piece for The New York Times.

A special thank you to the production team that helped make this possible
